| A set of repeated swims, each of which is to be completed within a predetermined time. The time interval includes the time both for swimming and for resting before the next swim. Interval training is an important tool for developing your aerobic capacity and muscle strength. |

Competitive swimming
The objective of competitive swimming is to be the
fastest swimmer a given distance. Competitive swimming began in the 19th
century, and at present there are 34 events - 17 male swimming events and 17
female swimming events. Swimming at the Summer Olympic Games, is a dream of
most competitors in swimming events. Male and female swimmers compete
in 13 recognized events each. Olympic swimming events are held in a 50 meter
pool. Competitive swimming's international governing body is the
