I will be quite happy to help you find the right place for your lessons. Irene has a lovely private pool for your individual use. Steve teaches in public pools and can also offer private swimming lessons. He was also trained as a Total Immersion Coach. Whoever you choose for your residential swimming lessons, you can be assured of a first class service for your one-to-one lessons, with your instructor in the water with you.

Practices • walk holding the rail/side • walk alongside the rail/side without touching Teaching Points • slide feet along the bottom • move slowly • aim for shoulders below the surface Developments • walk anywhere around the pool • walk changing speed • walk changing direction including sideways and backwards • walk in geometrical shapes/patterns • jumping, hopping, skipping As the pupils gain in confidence they should be allowed to experiment with a variety of movement patterns and games. Swimming Lessons ShropshireBreaststrokeBreaststroke is the oldest and slowest of the four competitive strokes. It is the slowest because it is the least streamlined. There are several styles which can be developed as the skill level increases. Breaststroke is a popular recreational stroke because:- (i) Breathing is easy (ii) Swimmers can see where they are going (iii) A rest may be taken in the glide position Body Position Key Points • the body should be as horizontal as stroke movements allow. This means that there is a greater slope down to the seat than in other strokes in order to keep the leg action in the water • good floaters find it easy to achieve a stable, almost horizontal position. Poor floaters usually need to lift and lower the head every stroke cycle • ASA Law states that the shoulders must be horizontal. As the name indicates, the body is upright. This float is for those who are confident and safe in deep water and who find horizontal floating difficult. The arms are outstretched sideways and the head tilted slightly back. In undisturbed water it is possible to experiment with the effects of breathing out and breathing in, in relation to how low or high the pupils float in the water.
